Students do the following:
1. Make a model predicting how an electromagnet works.
2. Do a Hands-On Lab, make an electromagnet, collect and graph data.
3. Read, watch 2 videos, answer questions, do interactive cloze notes and fill in blanks.
4. Revise their model by applying the vocabulary and what they learned from the lab. I use this as part of the assessment.
5. Review with a 20 question Kahoot on electricity and magnetism.
6. Take an assessment. This is part 2 of the assessment, it’s a 10 question Google Form.

• Electric and magnetic (electromagnetic) forces can be attractive or repulsive, and their sizes depend on the magnitudes of the charges, currents, or magnetic strengths involved and on the distances between the interacting objects. (MS-PS2-3)
• Forces that act at a distance (electric, magnetic, and gravitational) can be explained by fields that extend through space and can be mapped by their effect on a test object (a charged object, or a ball, respectively). (MS-PS2-5)
